Image

Monsoon undoubtedly is the most exciting season of the year and we welcome it with open arms.  Monsoon is the time when we enjoy the beautiful climate and feast on delicacies. The arrival of monsoon is indeed a sigh of relief from the scorching heat but it is essential to take care of the skin to protect it from the atmospheric humidity and sudden climatic change. Hence, along with enjoying to the fullest it is necessary to be careful on how to safeguard the body and skin during monsoon.

Hence, below are the following tips which one should undertake in order to look fresh and maintain a glowing skin and thereby get free from the hassles of bad skin during the Monsoon season.

  • Avoid fungal infections

Fungal infections are one of the most common problems which take place during the rainy season. Never keep your skin wet for a long time. Make it a point to bath with lukewarm water and use antifungal creams and talc which are effective ways to fight fungal infections. Some of these peculiar fungal infections include itching of the skin and ringworm.

  • Cleanse the skin

The skin should be cleaned around 3-4 times a day with non-soapy face washes as this would play an important role in cleaning excessive oil and dirt and helps keep the skin rejuvenated.

  • Keep Dry Skin Moisturised

If you have a dry skin type, then make sure to moisturise it with a good moisturiser. Application of Rosewater, Glycerine or Almond by a night’s sleep could play a pivotal role in keeping the skin healthy and glowing.

  • Keep Oily Skin Clean

Apply skin cleansers, effective face packs and drink loads of water in order to combat the problems of oily skin such as acne, pimples, blackheads and whiteheads.

  • Gentle exfoliation

Use a good skin scrub to get rid of those dead cells and make your skin radiant and glowing and thereby remove dead skin cells.

  • Avoid artificial jewellery

For those who have very sensitive skin, it is best to avoid wearing heavy jewellery altogether. The humidity can make your skin break out when it comes into contact with anything irritable. So avoid jewellery around your neck and wrists and allow your skin to breathe.

  •  Wash hair often

Wash hair a little more frequently that you usually do in the monsoon as all the humidity and sweat causes it to get dirty soon and attract dust and pollution.

To sum it up, enjoy the monsoon to the fullest but take care of your skin by implementing these ideas. Papulex India wishes everyone a very Happy Monsoon.

Take Care of your Skin this winter

It’s that season of the year when you need to be extra careful about your body and especially your skin. We all want glowing, soft, smooth, and wrinkle-free skin all year-round. For those who live in cold regions, this isn’t always easy to achieve. As cooler months set in, your skin goes through a transition. The hydrated and healthy skin of summer turns into chapped, itchy and dry skin of winter.

Summer time is great. Though hot, your skin feels young and alive. But as winter approaches your skin begins to dry and itchiness begins in no time. Stay soft and smooth all season long with the following tips which will help you deal with the winter woes.

Drink lots of water: Hydrate your skin from within by drinking lots of water. Carry a bottle with you when you go outside. Herbal tea is also great when it’s really cold. Your skin will soon have a healthy glow. So drink up and don’t let your skin go thirsty.

Don’t put away the sunscreen: This is the time when it may seem that you don’t need protection from the sun but you really do! Remember to put sunscreen on 30 minutes before you leave the house so your skin is protected.

Avoid excess use of deodorants: As you hardly tend to sweat during winter, it’s best to restrict the usage of deodorants which contain high alcohol content. These products tend to strip away the skin’s moisture leaving your skin dry. Go for alcohol-free products instead.

Oil your hair regularly: Don’t skip to oil your hair. It will help regulate the blood circulation and keep your scalp moisturized.

Catch up on sleep: Since you can’t really stay out late, it’s the best time to catch up on sleep. Go to bed early and snooze for an extra hour or two.

Use a lip balm: Don’t neglect your lips, which have a tendency to dry out in the winter. Keep balm with you and apply often as the temperature drops.

Stress-Busting tips that’ll help your skin

Pending job cuts at the office, Back-to-back final exams, An unexpected surgery. What do they all have in common? In a word – stress.

Stress isn’t just an unpleasant emotion: it’s the cause of a complex set of physiological changes in the body that can result in everything from dull, lifeless skin to acne, premature wrinkling and an increased risk of heart disease.

Have you ever noticed that when you are stressed, you break out more? This is because when you are stressed, the level of the body’s stress hormone (cortisol) rises. This in turn causes an increase in oil production, which can lead to oily skin, acne and other related skin problems. Stress causes a chemical response in your body that makes skin more sensitive and reactive. It can also make it harder for skin problems to heal.

Stress can have negative effects on skin issues you may already have, such as psoriasis or fever blisters and increases your risk of skin infections like cold sores.

Skin problems can also be stressful.  Some people are so embarrassed by their skin that they keep to themselves, which adds more stress, worsening the problem.

Although it’s impossible to avoid stress completely, there are ways to handle it better. Try these approaches:

  1. Minimize stress: – While you can’t erase stress completely, there are ways to keep it to a minimum. Like physical activity, whether it’s jogging, tennis, gardening.
  2. Get enough sleep: – Adequate sleep fuels your mind, as well as your body. Feeling tired will increase your stress because it may cause you to think irrationally.
  3. Don’t end up eating junk: – Many people, when they’re stressed out, end up stress eating. This sees them mindlessly cramming whatever’s around them into their mouth without bothering to consider the nutritional aspect. Worse yet, they tend to reach for ‘comfort’ foods that are loaded with sugar or grease, both of which can have a negative effect on your skin. This is why it’s a good idea to keep ready-prepared healthy snacks within easy reach.
  4. Don’t pick! : – When you’re under pressure, many people who like to pick at their pimples end up doing this even more. Don’t be tempted to do it. Squeezing or scratching at spots can end up leading to permanent acne scarring and dirty nails can lead to inflammation and infection, making the pimple even worse.
  5. Remember your routine: –When your mind’s stressed out or preoccupied, it’s easy to forget about your skincare routine. To ensure you don’t end up going to bed with your makeup on or without applying your night cream, keep your cleanser, toner and moisturizer next to your bed.
  6. Bad habits: Stress can trigger the onset of unhealthy habits such as excessive alcohol consumption, smoking and comfort eating. Again, this can make you less determined to exercise and can create an unhealthy cycle, where you rely on these things to help you relieve stress. This can lead to bad skin as well as other health problems.

It’s hard to avoid stress these days with so many competing demands for your time and attention. But with good stress management skills, you can cope with stress in a healthy way. Stress and Skin affects don’t have to be permanent. If you get your stress under control, your skin may become more glowing and healthy. Try the above mentioned stress management techniques to combat stress-related skin issues.

Acne is an inflammatory disease of the sebaceous glands (oil producing) and hair follicles of the skin that is marked by the eruption of pimples or pustules, especially on the face.It is a disorder which occurs due to turnover of skin cells, called keratinization. Acne is considered a normal response to abnormal levels of the male hormone testosterone. An increase in oil secretions may build up beneath a blocked pore, allowing bacteria (including Propionibacterium acnes and yeast) to increase in number and cause inflammation.
